How a passion for Canada's wild places became a mission to share them
brisk-shelter started in 2018 when our founders—a photographer, a backcountry guide, and a hospitality veteran—realized they kept meeting travelers who had barely scratched the surface of what Canada offers.
They'd visit Banff but miss the hidden valley an hour north where elk gather at dawn. They'd photograph Niagara Falls but never experience the quiet power of watching it at sunset with a glass of local icewine.
We built brisk-shelter to bridge that gap. To show people the Canada that exists beyond the postcard shots and crowded viewpoints.
Every expedition we offer has been designed through hundreds of hours of personal exploration. Our team has hiked the trails at different times of day, in different seasons, under varying weather conditions.
We don't recommend locations based on what's popular—we recommend them based on what creates genuine moments of awe. Sometimes that's a famous spot approached from an unexpected angle. Often it's somewhere guidebooks have never mentioned.
The result? Travelers return home with stories and photographs that surprise even friends who've visited the same regions.
The principles that guide every journey we create
We never recommend anything we haven't personally experienced and loved. No partnerships drive our itineraries—only genuine quality.
We partner with local communities, support conservation efforts, and design itineraries that minimize environmental impact while maximizing local benefit.
Maximum 8 travelers per expedition ensures intimate experiences, flexibility to adapt to conditions, and genuine connection with guides and fellow adventurers.
From the timing of each stop to the quality of accommodations, we obsess over details that transform good trips into unforgettable ones.
No hidden fees, no surprise costs, no bait-and-switch accommodations. What we promise is exactly what you get—and usually more.
We actively gather feedback and continuously refine our itineraries. Every trip teaches us something that makes the next one better.
